Our Story
In 2018, while drinking a cup of coffee with friends, Pappy not only thought about how much he enjoyed the cup he held in his hand, but how much better it tasted because it was shared with those he loved. He thought, "Coffee brings people together!" His love for coffee became a passion for good coffee, that would bring people together. In the fall of 2019, a local coffee roaster recognized Pappy's passion for coffee and donated a spare coffee roaster for him to practice on.
That little gift turned a passion into reality.
Within a couple days, he gathered the whole family together in his kitchen to watch as he roasted his first ever coffee beans. Needless to say, it did not quite go as planned. He learned quickly that a coffee roaster, even a small one, should not be used inside without ventilation. As billows and billows of dark grey smoke rolled out of the lil roaster and filled the entire house, the whole family started laughing and collectively ran to open
all the doors and windows. Pappy grabbed the smoking roaster and carried it outside. But true to Pappy’s love for coffee, and what coffee can do, the undrinkable lil burnt beans did their job. They brought those he loved together.
The small green coffee beans had turned into very burnt black beans, but his desire for the perfect cup did not go out the door with the smoke. Several roasts later, the Alpha Roast, which is our first roast, was perfected. And the rest they say… is history!
